People won't have to spam the chat to see what music is playing in the background
I'm not sure how Steamlabs would read what you are currently listening to, but you can use 'Snip' to print 'current song' to a text file and then use OBS to dynamically update a text object on screen based on what is in the text file.
Not sure if this gets complicated with different music softwares and online music streaming... BUT if this displayed my spotify playlists <3U<3
I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THIS!

Pull what the latest song is with the Last.fm API. This will encourage another way to connect with your viewers.
This Actually is not a bad idea, and would probably be a mobile friendly implementation when viewing your favorite streamer. This essentially would alleviate the need to make a bot command separately for Moobot or NIghtbot.
Also Like Zodux says: similarly you can use OBS Studios to do a browser source and just crop it to size. Still having specific box designed maybe nice.
Use LAST.FM to pull the song data. It links up with most popular media players. Spotify has it built in.or you can download their software that runs in the background and detects what you are playing. It updates almost immediately.
This functionality depends on what music player you are using and there are several solutions to make this happen. Others have suggested SNIP which is what I use with spotify, but there are several other ways. In order for Streamlabs to make this happen, they'd have to include functionality for each individual type of music player or at least add functionality separately. in any case, it's an entirely separate function from the main purpose of the application.
Good idea !
Use Ankhbot and then you can just add the now playing music file to your overlay.I don't think streamlabs could add something like this without adding a songrequest bot. Also if you're using BTTV then you could just add the response to the current song command to the blacklist and then you wouldn't have to see it in your chat.

This is coming soon with the new interactive experiences being released by Twitch
I would definitely recommend Snip. It was hard for me to find a program I could get to use with VLC, which is what I prefer to use for music. I found it and also found out it works with pretty much anything you would use to listen to music, and is really simple to use. I highly recommend it.
I have been trying to do this for a while using the xSplit Broadcaster. The possibility to do so for the said program is really a blessing. Hence, I do support having this done not only for OBS but for xSplit also.
You can Use moobot or nightbot
Yes! This. I hope in the future they decide to make some sort of app.
It would be awesome if there was a place to display either pandora or YouTube playlists
I dunno how it'd work exactly via YouTube, except unless you have the whole songrequest feature of Nightbot going. With that, you could have it read the list, and the name of whatever is now playing would be displayed. As for Spotify, though, it has an API that is available to coders (used a lot in RainMeter skins), and you could easily link that to your display. At any rate, I totally agree that this could be a quite feasible feature. Even if you can only make it Spotify compatible at first.

Have you tried Nightbot to play the music and then use the txt file it creates? It's what I use.
This would be awesome for the new extension that has song request.
Reading from lastfm is all it would take. I hope this gets implemented!

This is marked as "Shipped"... where is it?
I would like this for Google Music Player as that is the music service I use.
