Context: It’s well known in the community that paying attention to the view count is a very bad thing to do and can totally make or break a stream. Knowing that there are little to no people watching, or that your viewership is dropping is always a harsh pill to swallow, especially for streamers with what I call “viewership anxiety.”
These are the people that always pay attention to the viewcount- they just can’t help themselves. Hiding the viewcount just makes everything worse. The view count (vc) completely controls their effort into the stream and their inner psycholgy. The higher the vc, the more energy and effort is put into the stream. This is mostly done subconsciously and I think most streamers can agree. We can also agree that we do not like seeing dwindling numbers, so I want to propose an idea that takes this uncontrollable, natural connection towards vc and make it a little less daunting, and rather, much more pleasing.
The Solution: These numbers can be tweaked but I would like to see a random number generator based on the number of viewers watching.
So, say you have 10 viewers, you’ll actually see the viewcount as a number from 10-20. And at no time will your viewercount ever decrease (all of this is optional and can be tweaked).
Now, I know what you’re thinking and I do realize this is quite nitpicky, but it would be interesting to see how it works at least for beginner streamers with little to no viewership. It will keep them hyped up in my opinion. However, it should be noted that this solution can also be unhealthy for the stream. Sometimes there are issues with the stream (audio/lag/etc) which is the very reason why the user is getting lower views. In this case my solution becomes extremely counterproductive which is why it should only be used by streamers who know what they’re doing.
